Melissa
Roberts
Melissa Roberts teaches adult, teen and advanced trapeze classes at Canopy.
She enjoys designing and choreographing on several apparatuses including lyra,
aerial cube, double lyra, and triangle. She performs with Andrea Fors and Nicole
Mermans of Co-Incident Aerial Dance, http://www.co-incident.com/gallery.html.
Although she was a gymnast in her early days, she lost touch with that level
of physicality during college and graduate school. Upon moving back to Athens
from New York City in 2002, she saw Canopy’s first performance and immediately
signed up for classes. Canopy has been her second home ever since!
When she’s not at Canopy, Melissa works as a grant director with the Center
for Community Design and Preservation at UGA. She enjoys Lowes, home improvement
(a.k.a. demolition), makeup design, cemetery documentation, biking and spending
time with friends. When traveling, she attempts to takes contortion classes… and
shops to fulfill her platform footwear obsession.
