Megan Cattau
Megan Cattau teaches trapeze and aerial silks classes at Canopy and is also the
studio's assistant director. Megan fortuitously stumbled across aerial dance
for the first time during one of Canopy's early performances, and she started
attending trapeze classes immediately afterward. Apart from a brief
period of trapeze class truancy (caused mainly by the flakiness of her early
20's), she has been a permanent fixture at the studio.
Megan enjoys dancing on the single-point trapeze, aerial
silks, lyra, duo trapeze, and various invented apparatus, including
an aluminum
van ladder. She delights in
choreographic collaborations of all sorts, with fellow dancers and with other
local artists and musicians. She has performed nationally and internationally
in dance concerts, festivals, local benefit events, theatrical plays, corporate
venues, resorts, and nightclubs.
In
her non-aerial life, Megan is a naturalist, this itself showing up
in the organic imagery in her oil paintings and in her work with
the Upper Oconee
Watershed Network. She plans to attend graduate school in 2008, focusing
on Environment and Earth Sciences. |
