Julia Franz

Julia stumbled upon Canopy just a week after seeing her first Cirque du Soleil show in Atlanta. She heard about a local aerial dance performance and had to see for herself what all the fuss was about! It didn’t take long before she realized what a gem she had uncovered, right here in Athens… and she immediately signed up for her first beginner trapeze workshop! Almost four years later, Julia maintains a (healthy) addiction for dancing in the air, and loves choreographing and performing with her #1 partner and best friend, April Moore Skelton. She also teaches a kids class with Carlynn Kenna on Saturday mornings, where she continually finds herself mesmerized by her students’ strength and creativity.

While right-side-up, Julia spends the majority of her time these days working toward her master’s degree in speech-language pathology. In the near future she hopes to provide rehabilitation services to children and adults who are recovering from acquired brain injuries. Away from school, Julia loves trail running, cooking for friends, squishing her kitty Tux (in a nice way), roller skating, and daydreaming about one day moving to the coast of Italy!
